Making The Most of Your Time

Blog More Efficiently detailed 5 ways that you can save time and get more blogging done.   This post will give 5 ways that you can Blog Even More Efficiently

1) Limit Your Reading Time - Limit the amount of time you spend reading other blogs.  Pick an amount of time that works for you and stick with it.  1/2 hour a day tends to work best for me, but you should find your own fit.   You can greatly increase the amount you read in that time by using a blog aggregator like Bloglines or Google Reader

2) Track Your Traffic Driving Techniques - Keep track of the techniques you use to drive traffic and how well they work.  Do you like to comment on other blogs?   Keep track of which blogs send you traffic and which blogs send you link love and try to focus your efforts on those.    Do you like to leave forum posts with signature links?    I personally use this method to drive traffic to fledgling sites.    Keeping track of which forums are good, and which are bad at driving traffic so your site will keep you from wasting your time.     I have found that for driving traffic to this site, a webmaster/blogging page, Wickedfire has been best for me.

3) Learn Keyboard Shortcuts - In all honesty using the mouse too much can really slow you down.  If you learn the keyboard shortcuts for the programs that you use most often you can get much more done in the same amount of time.   Don’t have time to memorize them?   Print them out and tape them up next to your computer, you’ll remember them soon enough.   Windows Shortcuts    Internet Explorer Shortcuts   Wordpress Shortcuts

4) Shut Down Distractions -   Whenever you start blogging, try shutting off the distractions.  Turn off instant messanger, close your e-mail, shut off the television…    By giving these things your attention you are slowing down your work.   If they cause you to lose your train of thought and force you to try and remember what you were doing, they can drastically hamper your productivity.

5) Do Most Important Items First- Figure out what is the most important things you need to get done on your blog today and do them first.  Is it moderating comments?  Generating Content?  SEO?   By prioritizing your list you can help ensure that the more important things don’t get pushed to the curb
