Limited Time, So Make The Most Of It

Many bloggers, including myself, when they are first starting out take on their website in addition to their normal job.   Add in the normal odds and ends of daily life, as well as spending time with the family, and it can seem as though you no longer have time to blog any more.   As such you must make the best use of your limited time as possible.   Here are some tips to help you improve productivity.

1) Keep an idea journal - Keep a notebook with you at all times so that you can write down your ideas as they come to you.  This way you will no longer have to waste time at the computer thinking to yourself, “What should I write about today”

2) Upgrade Your Computer - Get yourself a faster computer if yours is more than a few years old.  The time you spend waiting for your computer to boot up, and fixing it when the software crashes, is time that you could be spending much more productively.  Give your time a dollar value, and then ask yourself if having to deal with a slow machine for is really such a bargin over shelling out a couple hundred dollars.

3) Upgrade your internet.  -  How is your internet connection speed?    Do you connect right away to pages? Are your downloads lightning fast?   Or do you have to wait and wait?    If you are waiting on a slow internet connection, it may be time to upgrade

4) Use the latest plugins - Make sure to use the latest and greatest plugins for whatever software you are using.   People created those plugins for one reason, to save time, so be sure to use them for their fullest.   Great Wordpress Plugins    Great Firefox Plugins

5) Limit Your Statchecking - Be sure to limit the amount of time you spend checking your stats.   Although it is good to know where your traffic is coming from, it is no good to know this at the cost of creating content.   If you are spending more than 10% of your available blogging time checking your traffic stats or your monetization stats, then you should try to use that more effectively.    Instead of checking everyday, try to do it once a week and focus on what those stats mean and how you can improve them.     Sidenote - Analytics is up and running with a new interface.  It is simply great.
