Freelance Blogging
Freelanceswitch recently posted a great article on Freelance Blogging
In it he talks about bloggers taking a different route than that I usually push. His article is mostly about bloggers who sell their posts instead of posting on their own blogs.
I don’t believe that Freelance Blogging is a great way to make money. The going rate for blog posts is on the order to $15-$20 dollars an hour, as freelance blogger writes in his article. This is no way to get rich. If you are writing blog posts for other people just for the money then you are not making the best use of your time.
However, freelance blogging has other upsides- Freelance blogging has some other upsides though. If you have your own blog, and you write freelance as a source of side income, you can leverage that into promotion for your own site. The trick to using your freelance blogging to push your own site is to focus on where your post is appearing rather than how much they are paying.
Use Your Paid Blogs To Push Your Site- If you use your paid blogs to push your site, you have to be discreet about it. After all, the people who are paying you are giving you real money, and they have a right to expect good work from you, not just a fluff piece on your own site. The trick to promoting your site with the blog, is to simply write your paid blog posts about similar content as you have written your own blog posts about. Then you can simply reference your own blog at the end of the post. At that point it isn’t a fluff piece, it is giving your readers more sources of information.
