Using Google Toolbar Spellchecker
Google’s Spellcheck Is Far Better Than Wordpress’s
One of the continual annoyances for me about Wordpress is that their spellchecker works so badly. It has a couple of glaring faults in it.
- It doesn’t recognize many common words- It doesn’t recognize many words that are common in a bloggers’s dictionary. Words like blog, Internet, web page, and even Wordpress are all left off the list. Blogging phrases such as Html, Xhtml, and Css? Not a chance
- It doesn’t auto correct words - When I press the spell check button, in the interest of time I would like it to automatically correct all of my glaring misspellings. However Wordpress makes you fix each-one itself
- Mouse over functionality doesn’t work, at least for me- Wordpress claims that if you click on a red underlined misspelled word it will pull down a menu letting your select the word you want. I can get the pull down menu, however when I try to select the correct word, it doesn’t work
This has been a frustration for me as it takes up time which I would rather use on other tasks. But I recently discovered a Google toolbar function, which many of you may already know about, which will correct your blogging spelling.
You can see the spell checker on the Google toolbar as the ABC-check mark

This is an example of this post using the wordpress spell checker

comparing that to Google’ spell checker

You can see that with Google a lot of words which wordpress didn’t like, are actually spelled correctly. Additionally it is far easier to see the misspelled words using Google’s spell checker than it is on Wordpress.
Finally you can make Google Auto-correct as many words as it can, and you end up with

Saving a lot of time over clicking on each word and figuring out the correct spelling myself. If you don’t use Google tool bar’s spell checker, I suggest you try it out.
Have you used it? Do you use it? What do you think?

I went into Control Panel and found a lot of google stuff but not the Tool-bar. Then I downloaded the version that would work with Visa, google version #6 and it still doesn’t work. Any Suggesstions? Thank you kindly.
