New Blogs I Have Come Across
Several of my Pages have been hit with comments or trackbacks from blogs that I haven’t seen before. Several of them are startups, a few are more mature and I just hadn’t heard of them. So if you are looking for any new sites to browse, there are a couple gems in this list you might want to check out.
- DerekBeau - This is a site with some good information on affiliate marketing and how to make your blog profitable. Well designed site, has a nice feel to it
- My New Hustle - A very new site, focuses on some tricks to make money on the internet. Some of the tricks seem a little sneakier than things I would think of
- Blog That Outside - Because You know you can’t blog that in the house. A new blog, but a relatively prolific blogger. Has some good articles up.
- Kristofers Blog - They say “The Ravings, rantings and lunaticle stylings of a webmaster -slash- journalist. ” I say that’s about right
P.S. They are all running top commentator plugin with relatively few comments on the list. So easy links if you want to go there and leave a few comments.
You know who else has relatively few comments in their top commentator plugin? Savvy Affiliate.
Right now 2 comments will put you on the list. How can you pass that up?
on July 10th, 2007 at 9:39 am
Hey thanks for the link.. yeah my Top Commentators resets every month, so it started new for July… So hop in and get a link!
on July 10th, 2007 at 11:03 am
Thanks for the link! I really appreciate it.
I think the Top Commentators and Do Follow plugins motivate more people to post comments on my blog. I’ll take it. Whatever keeps ‘em coming back, right?
on July 10th, 2007 at 11:22 am
Thanks for the link! I love the ‘do follow’ movement and I want to help everyone as much as I can. Let me know you are out there! Post a comment and take a poll! The polls are AWESOME and really thought provoking, but don’t just take my word for it…
on July 10th, 2007 at 12:34 pm
What devilish tactic for getting comments. It worked on me. I’ve been reading the RSS feed for a while.
on July 10th, 2007 at 9:29 pm
I think top commentators can be more effective at driving repeat comments than Do Follow.
First most people won’t know you “Do Follow”, unless of course you advertise it. Plus I think that many “Do Follow” comments are intended solely for the link and likely won’t help the visitors return.
Kristofer,
I think that resetting your top commentators is key. I have mine set to 30 days so that it never gets so that it intimidates people from commenting.
I know on some sites where I have seen people with 250 comments I tend to lurk more because I assume I am too new to the site and the community to contribute

I have thought about the top commentator plugin for a bit and I am still not sure.
I advertise the “U-Comment, I follow” logo on my side bar.

My blog is also Do Follow, and has been getting loads of new visitors recently.
I read a lot of the articles on Savvy Affiliate but I still haven’t dipped my toe into the ‘advertising on my website’ pond yet.
I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has any ideas about how I could get my blog generating some money!
on October 14th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
It is quite a bit later at this time, but I have not run across any of these sites recently. I think that they may not in the categories I would normally view sites on.
on December 8th, 2008 at 4:52 am

As an update, none of those blogs have the top commentator plugin anymore. It’s a shame
on February 4th, 2009 at 6:32 am
@ Tracie Spencer
I hope the owners of those blogs consider having a tc list.
on February 10th, 2009 at 8:59 am
I agree with Tracie Spencer… but I do like Derek Beau’s site and it does look like he has that plugin now!
on February 25th, 2009 at 6:33 am
It is a shame when they get rid of the plug in. It’s a great way to reward your active users.
on March 4th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Cool, I’m going to use this on my blog, thanks indeed
on March 4th, 2009 at 5:49 pm
It is interesting to see who is still around and still doing the top commentators thing after all this time, some people have removed them, while some have remained with it!
on April 1st, 2009 at 4:12 pm
This is a great list of blogs. It is neat to see who’s stuck around. It seems a lot take out top commentator, using it instead as a short term attraction to get visitors to the site.
on May 7th, 2009 at 1:21 am
Do Follow plugins motivate more people to post comments on your blog. Thanks for that plug in!
on May 13th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
I would like to increase my subscription list, as well as get my blog added to other people’s subscriptions lists. I can’t figure out how, if possible, to search for blogs on Blogger! It’s frustrating.

It’s funny how many of these blogs die over time. It’s a shame people don’t keep up with their projects.
on October 21st, 2009 at 2:00 am
I’ve added top commentator but for some reason nobody comments. So, it is really easy to get top commentator on my site. See for yourself!

Many may find it intimidating when in fact it is your personality. Personally I find it refreshing when a person can say who they are, what they want, what their expectations are, and can get to the point quickly…

Body language - all subtle cues. Perhaps you “stare people down” without realizing it, or invade peoples comfort zones. Alot is what you do with your shoulders and feet when you are talking with someone.

A blog is open to public if the blogger (blog owner) allows it. Some bloggers out there prefer privacy so they switch to “private” mode whereby the blog is restricted to friends/family only. Or you’ll have to at least join the site and ask for a friend invite to be able to read their entries.

Make sure to set your permissions for the blog when you’re done with the transfer. Click the “Settings” link in the upper right corner of the Y!Profile.

Like as in there is a blog out there …somewhere in the cyber world..how do people “discover” it and start reading it? or does the person whose blog it is have to invite people to read it?
