You Are Your Brand, Pick A Good One

9:01 Am has a great new post on branding yourself.  He writes that most bloggers don’t think of themselves as brandable commodities, but they are.  Because of this, a blogger should spend a good amount of time deciding on what their brand it.  It is important to pick the right brand.

Currently I am attempting to brand “Savvy Affiliate”  I have registered the domain and am basing my blog around it.  How did I come up with the brand?  Well I went through something of the process that 9:01 Am outlines on his site.  I picked one name, modified it, thought about that domain, changed it until I eventually had a brand which wasn’t taken, and I am trying to dominate it.

9:01 Am Recommends that You Brand Your Name.  I haven’t decided whether or not I want to do that yet.  Is it a good idea for me to register my FirstnameLastname site? Probably it is.  However currently I am enjoying the, at least modest, level of anonymity which the internet affords.  I haven’t decided whether or not to give that up yet.  Possibly once my brand becomes more valuable it will be worth it, for now not so much.
