Blog carnivals can be a great way to get backlinks. The are useful both for the people running the carnival, and for the authors of articles submitted on them. I intend to take full advantage of this in the upcoming carnival I am hosting.
However it can be time consuming to hunt down carnivals and submit articles to them. Luckily blog carnival has a single submission formthat lets you submit to any carnival from the one page. This can be a huge time savings for bloggers who like submitting their sites to carnivals, so take full advantage of it. I only recently stumbled across it, and it has been very handy for me so far.

A Blog Carnival is a blog article that contains links to other articles covering a specific topic. Most blog carnivals are hosted by a rotating list of frequent contributors to the blog carnival, and serve to both generate new posts by contributors and highlight new bloggers posting matter in that subject area.

Interesting I haven’t heard of blogging carnivals but I have heard of similar link baiting tactics.
