April Site Stats

Posted on May 5th, 2007 in Traffic by Scott

I started this Blog in the middle of April, after deciding to move away from a regular website, which is at www.SavvyAffiliate.com

Since then I have been practicing what I preached, trying to post lots of articles, and being generous with my backlinks.  This has driven a decent increase in my traffic, although there is still work to be done.

Here are my traffic stats in the last 4 weeks

April Stats

All told I have experienced about a 4 fold increase in traffic since I started my blog, and a 3 fold increase in page views.  This is one of the reasons I decided to switch to Blogging.  I think that I have been vindicated that it is easier to drive traffic to blogs than regular websites.

Somewhat disturbing to me is the lack of repeat visitors.  I haven’t really been able to drive repeat visitors to my site, which I will need if I want to improve my page long term.

I believe one reason for this is Poor Site Design. I am still using the default wordpress theme, which is kind of ugly.  Additionally the default theme doesn’t stand out very well.  It looks the same as half a million other sites out there.  Hopefully I’ll be able to rectify this and create a new site design later this month.  Will this drive an increase in traffic?  I’m not sure.

So what do you think of my blog?  How can I keep improving?  Let me know in the comments.

Repeat visitors will come, you haven’t been going that long. Your RSS feed isn’t easy to find, start giving it some serious promotion and that will help immensely.

The theme is your single most important thing to change: There are so many themes out there now that make it easier to self-promote and encourage your readers to bookmark and/or subscribe.

I think you’ve nailed decent content straightaway, the presentation needs to come next. Comment regularly on other blogs too - it’s not just the blogger that will notice you, but their readers too. Make regular, useful comments and people will check you out.
