Weblog Tools Collection is doing a running feature on new wordpress plugins as they are released.

I believe that all of the available plugins for Wordpress are one of the best reasons to use wordpress.  They significantly improve the functionality of Wordpress, making your blogging more efficient, saving you time and as a result, making you money.

Some of the plugins which I think might be useful are

Stocks Watchlist - This allows you to put ticker feeds from Yahoo finance on your site.  There is only a 20 minute delay.  This is a great way to keep track of your own stocks or keep track of stocks are telling your readers about.

Wordpress Proftanity Filter- This plugin filters profanity out of your comments and plugins.  Great for a site which has kids as an audience

http:BL - This plugin allows you to verify the IP address of everyone connecting to your site against a malicious user database.  This allows you to scan for spammers, sploggers and the like
