WordPress Annoyances

Posted on June 6th, 2007 in Wordpress by Scott

I love Wordpress To Death, but it still has its annoyances

Every now and then I come across something in wordpress that annoys me.  Mostly it isn’t Wordpress’s fault, other than the fact that they aren’t as tolerant of the average bloggers (me) mistakes as they could be.

In this particular case I was annoyed when I made a mistake post dated a post.  I will be leaving on a trip soon, and am trying to build up a backlog of articles that will display when I’m gone.  I had written one, thought I had post dated the post and moved on.

I came back to reference what I had written and saw that I couldn’t find it in my manage option.  Eventually, after a search, I found out that I had stupidly pre-dated the post instead of post dating it.  I fixed the timestamp but am a little concerned that it might show up twice in people’s feed readers.

That said, It might be nice if wordpress had a little option that would warn you when you were pre-dating posts.  Perhaps the timestamp should display in Red if you change the time or date to something that is earlier.  This would be a nice catch for people who make mistakes like me, but wouldn’t affect people who actually want to pre-date their posts.

Have you made similar mistakes or had gripes against Wordpress?
