Determining Keyword Profit
In order to maximize your profit from Google
Adsense, it is important to know which keywords are the most
profitable. You can then tailor you site content in order to
attack those specific keywords. After all, there is no reason
to be earning $.50 per click when you can make a few changes
to your Meta Tags, and pepper your articles with a few choice
keywords and up your earnings to $1.00 or more per click. In
order to find out which keywords will earn you the most money,
you don't need to buy someone's E-book, or pay money to a self
proclaimed "SEO Guru." All you need is a Google Adwords
account.
Since Adsense and Adwords are two sides to the
same coin, it makes sense that the keywords which cost advertisers
the most, will be the most profitable for you. So after you
get your adwords account (Which you must initially fund with
$10, but that is the only money it will ever cost, and you can
use that money to advertise your site) you need to login and
go to tools.

After that, you will go to the first link on
the left, the Keyword Tool

And finally you need to enter some information
on the different ads you would like to test. In this case I
would like to see what variations of Adsense are the most profitable.
So I enter Adsense as my keyword, Select 'Cost and ad position
estimates' as the data to display, and, in order to ensure that
I see all of the highest paying ads, I enter $100 as the most
I am willing to pay per click. ( Note, you are not actually
bidding on the keywords here, so it doesn't matter how much
you put in the USD form, just pick a number high enough so that
all the ads display. ) Finally I can sort the data by Estimated
Avg. CPC and find out how much it costs advertisers for each
keyword.

In this case you can see that it pays more to
target some specific keywords than others. If your webpage showed
ads for adsense help rather than adsense preview, you would
earn 50% more per click. However, there is one more thing you
need to concern yourself with, and that is what is the search
volume. After all, it does you no good to have a high paying
keyword if no one is looking for it. Ideally what you want is
a high paying keyword, one that has lots of searchers, and one
which has little competition in terms of pages people are displaying
about it. Since it is hard to get all three, try to get as close
as you can for the first 2.
To find out the search volume simply change the
'Cost and ad position estimate' to 'Keyword popularity', and
keep the same sorting.

From this we can see that it might be better
to target Adsense in general than any specific combination of
words. The profit per click will be less, but you could make
up for it in volume. In general you can expect to get 20-30%
of whatever the advertisers are paying when someone clicks on
your links. Google absorbs the rest in operating expenses and
profit. Maybe you should get some Google stock eh?
